Obtaining a liquor license in the Town of Westcliffe is a privilege, not a right. Liquor licenses are issued by the State of Colorado and the Town of Westcliffe. The Town cannot issue the local license until the State has reviewed and approved the application and issued the State license.
The Town Clerk coordinates and administers the liquor licensing application process on behalf of the Town of Westcliffe's Local Liquor Authority Board and the State of Colorado Liquor Enforcement Division. The Westcliffe Board of Trustees serves as the Local Authority and meets the second Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m.
When reviewing and completing the applications, please read through the document checklist. You MUST complete every item on the document checklist. If you have questions as to whether or not it applies to you, please call 719-783-2282.
Please allow at least 60 days for all applications. If your application is required to appear before the Liquor Licensing Authority, this time frame could easily be extended. Applications (such as Special Event Permits, annual renewals, changes in shareholders, officers, directors or trade names of a license, changes in a registered manager of a licensee, issuance of temporary permits, Art Gallery Permit renewals and Tasting Permit renewals) that are administratively approved require extensive staff review and could take longer than 60 days.
Before submitting a completed application, to insure prompt and efficient processing of your application, please call Town Clerk at 719-783-2282 to schedule an appointment.
It is the responsibility of the liquor license holder, its agents and employees to comply with the provisions of the Colorado Liquor and Beer code.
